Gulmarg, July 7: A two-day Referee Seminar in the indigenous martial art discipline of Sqay, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Sqay Association, concluded Monday in Gulmarg. This intensive seminar, held from July 2 aimed to enhance the technical knowledge and officiating skills of referees across Jammu and Kashmir.A statement issued here said that the seminar provided a valuable platform for participants to deepen their understanding of Sqay rules and regulations and refine their officiating techniques under the guidance of experienced instructors. The successful completion of this program represents a significant stride toward elevating the standard of Sqay officiating within the region and ensuring fair play in future competitions. Adil Bashir Bhat, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Sqay Association expressed his satisfaction with the seminar’s outcome. The Jammu and Kashmir Sqay Association remains committed to the development of Sqay martial arts in the Union Territory, emphasizing both athlete training and the professional development of technical officials like referees. This seminar is one of several initiatives planned by the association to strengthen the sport’s infrastructure and prepare athletes for higher levels of competition.It may be recalled that the Jammu and Kashmir Sqay Association is the governing body for Sqay martial arts in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, dedicated to promoting and developing this traditional sport at the grassroots and elite levels. Grandmaster Mir Nazir was the Chief Guest on the concluding ceremony.
