Ganderbal, Feb 28: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) division Gund has cleared snow from all major link roads in the Gund area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, while as the snow clearance operation in Sonamarg is still in progress.
An official from the R&B division Gund said that early on Friday morning, the department deployed JCB machines to clear snow from link roads. “We have cleared snow from all major link roads, including hospital roads in both Gund and Sonamarg,” the official stated.
He further added that the department has kept its machinery on standby to tackle the ongoing snowfall. “Until the snow clearance operation is fully completed, we will continue to put in all efforts to manage the situation effectively,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has cleared the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road from Kangan to Gagangeer. The BRO has deployed men and machinery to ensure that the road remains accessible despite the heavy snowfall.

Due to the harsh weather conditions and continuous snowfall, traffic movement in the district remained largely disrupted. Authorities have urged people to take precautions while traveling in snowbound areas.
