Jammu, June 18: In a commendable display of discipline, enthusiasm and patriotic fervour, two NCC cadets from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) — Cadet Charvi Thakur and Cadet Saher Sharma — proudly represented their institution at the Pre-National Integration Camp (Pre-NIC) held at the NCC Training Academy, Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir.
The camp, designed to prepare and shortlist cadets for the prestigious Special National Integration Camp (SNIC), served as a dynamic platform for promoting unity and cultural exchange among youth from across the country. Over the course of the camp, cadets underwent an intensive and structured training programme that included daily Physical Training (PT) sessions focused on enhancing endurance, discipline, and coordination. A special component of the programme featured professional Wushu training, aimed at developing self-defence capabilities while boosting strength, agility, and mental focus. In addition to physical and leadership training, Cadets Charvi and Saher made their mark through vibrant participation in cultural activities. They enthusiastically took part in group singing, dance performances, dramatics, and state-wise cultural presentations that showcased India’s rich and diverse heritage. Their spirited contributions not only celebrated national unity but also left a lasting impression on fellow participants and camp instructors. Both cadets successfully underwent the rigorous Pre-SNIC selection modules, which are designed to identify individuals with strong leadership potential and a deep sense of national pride — qualities essential for representing the region at the national stage. The cadets’ participation was made possible through the steadfast mentorship of Dr Varun Dutta, NCC Coordinator, and Ms Deepika Malik, Caretaker Officer (CTO), SMVDU, whose guidance and motivation proved instrumental throughout the training and selection process.
