SKUAST-K organizes capacity building programme for students to inculcate peace, human values

Srinagar, June 14: Department of Students Welfare Shalimar, SKUAST-K held a three days capacity building training programme for students to inculcate peace, human values under value education. The training was organised in collaboration with The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) from June 12th to 14th 2023.
The inaugural session was chaired by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. M. A. A Siddique along with Dean faculty of Horticulture – Prof. Neelofar Banday and Coordinator CCPC-FOH Prof. F.A. Lone.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M.A.A Siddique mentioned in his words of wisdom that this programme will not only teach students  about values but also will help them to develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and a sense of responsibility towards themselves and others in the society. He congratulated Dr. Seemi Lohani, Students Welfare Officer and Training Co-ordinator for organizing this type of unique program for the students. Dean Faculty of Horticulture Prof. Neelofar Bandey while addressing the gathering mentioned that value education among students is one of the best efforts to create a good atmosphere and learning conditions in supporting the achievement of educational goals.
Ms. Poonam Sherawat the resource speaker from The Prem Rawat Foundation, highlighted the significance of peace and human values among students and other dignitaries. The programme covered a wide range of topics in the broad realm of peace, human values under value education. This will help students in becoming ethical and moral individuals who can contribute positively to society- a statement said.
The aim of the programme was to empower students to face past events, gain willingness change and also aid in better anger management. More than 100 students and scholars from various divisions from the university, participated in the programme with unity and spirit and the programme was anchored in a systemic manner by two Ph. D scholars Ms. Burgish Parveez Bhat and Ms. Shehwar Ilyas of the university 
During the valedictory session Dr. Seemi Lohani (Students Welfare Officer) presented the vote of thanks to the dignitaries, guests and participants and also deliberated upon the feedback/suggestions received from the participants to highlight the importance of such training programmes from the perspective of students.
