Srinagar, Feb 24: Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir organized one week Training Program on Skill-cum-Entrepreneurship through Development and Demonstration of Integrated Farming System towards Upliftment of Rural Economy. The objective of this training program was to aware trainees about the importance of an integrated farming system, taking into consideration the unemployment rate.
The speakers underscored and instilled the significance of agri-entrepreneurship, with a specific focus on the integrated farming system. The program was held under the banner of SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (SKIIE) Centre sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) with an ultimate objective to promote new enterprises and inculcate entrepreneurial culture in UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
In addition to participating farmers, the valedictory program was attended by Shabir Ahmad Raina (ADC Baramulla as Chief Guest) Prof. Raihana H. Kanth, (Dean, Faculty of Agriculture), and faculty members of Division of Agri. Extension & Communication FoA Wadura. Prof. Raihana, enlightened the farmers about the importance of the skill-based training programs to build entrepreneurial mindset among the youth and develop their skills so they can launch their own innovation-led startups and business ventures.
She stated that startups are not only creating new jobs which means more employment but are also leaving a ripple effect on the socio-economic fabric of the demography in which they are operating. She further added that agri-startups are taking a pragmatic approach towards innovation that is solving farmer problems at the ground level. Shri Shabir Ahmad Raina (ADC Baramulla) also highlighted the importance of the programme about Integrated Farming System towards Upliftment of Rural Economy and availability of business potential in agriculture and horticulture-based startups. He further added startups play a key role in promoting innovation in a society and stressed the need for creating more synergies in the educational ecosystem for skilling of the youth. He further appreciated the faculty and stressed upon the need for conducting more and more programmes like this.
