Srinagar, July 23: As part of collaborative research and mobility programme under ERASMUS+ project between SKUAST-K and Padova University, Italy, A five-day International Workshop on OMICS technologies kickstarted at SKUAST-K, Shalimar’s Division of Plant Biotechnology.
Prof. Nazir A Ganai, Vice Chancellor of the University inaugurated the workshop. Among others who were present at the inaugural function was Prof Antonio Masi, Professor Padova University, the lead resource person, Prof H U Naik, Director Research, Prof S A Wani, Dean Horticulture and Prof M A Bhat, Head Plant Biotechnology and several faculty members of the university, besides the participants. In his inaugural remarks, Prof. Ganai congratulated the organiser of the workshop for such an important bilateral academic activity for the benefit of faculty and students.
He outlined the university policy of enhancing global engagement for education and research and how it has shaped university’s progress in improving its international outlook. Prof. Ganai exhorted upon all the faculty and students to proactively tap the opportunities for higher education and research engagements under various mobility programmes. Prof. Antonio Masi thanked the Vice Chancellor for administrative approval and facilitating this dual accredited workshop. He gave an outline of the global impact on student mobility and building institutional capacity and hoped that Under ERASMUS+ project, both universities can take the collaboration further to develop joint academic programmes.
The workshop will feature instructional lectures and hands on training sessions on various aspects of omics technologies in plant science research, from globally acclaimed omics experts. About 20 research scholars are participating in the workshop from a diverse institutions and programmes.
