Srinagar, Jan 26: The 74th Republic day was celebrated at SKUAST Kashmir’s Shalimar campus on Thursday with great enthusiasm.
The celebrations were held in presence of large gathering of scientists, employees and students.
The celebrations started by hoisting of the National Flag by Prof. M. N. Khan, Director Education, SKUAST-Kashmir, followed by National Anthem and address to the gathering.
Celebrations were attended by around 200 scientists, non-teaching employees, students, staff and their family members.
Dr. Khan said that this day is to celebrate and honour our nation and our sovereignty. “This is a day to remember with gratitude the enormous efforts and sacrifices of millions of freedom fighters whose blood and sweat gave us Independence and created our Republic.”
He also applauded the efforts and resilience of scientists and non-teaching staff of the varsity’s Shalimar Campus.
The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. S.A. Wani Dean Horticulture and Nisar Ahmad Dar, Public Relations Officer SKUAST-Kashmir.
