Srinagar, Aug 29: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) hosted an orientation program for newly admitted undergraduate students, marking a significant academic milestone. Alongside welcoming the new students, the university announced the launch of four new undergraduate courses: B.Tech in Biotechnology, BSc (Hons) in Microbiology, BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry, and BSc (Hons) in Economics and Data Science.
Prof. Nazir A. Ganai, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-K, who was the chief guest at the event, expressed his enthusiasm about the university’s new academic initiatives. He highlighted SKUAST-K’s commitment to equipping students with the skills necessary to become future leaders and make substantial contributions to society. The Vice-Chancellor also interacted with students and released handbooks outlining the details of the newly introduced courses.
Prof. S.A Wani, Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture, provided a detailed overview of the new programs, including their curriculum, faculty, and future prospects.
The event was attended by university officials, deans, heads of departments, scientists, and a large number of newly admitted students. The addition of these innovative courses is expected to broaden academic opportunities and enhance the university’s contribution to emerging fields such as biotechnology, data science, and economics.
