Srinagar/Jammu, April 23: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST-K) Wednesday organised a heartfelt condolence meeting and a solemn candle march to mourn the tragic and untimely loss of innocent lives in the recent Pahalgam incident.
A statement issued here said that the condolence meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and witnessed the participation of scientists, faculty members, administrative officials and other staff of the University. While expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai conveyed his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the SKUAST-K fraternity. He emphasised the importance of peace, humanity and solidarity during such trying times. “The loss of innocent lives has left us all devastated. We share the pain of the affected families and pray for strength and courage for them to cope with this unbearable loss,” the statement said. “A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the departed souls, followed by special prayers for their eternal peace. The university community prayed for patience and strength for the families of the victims. Following the condolence meet, a candle march was held within the campus, symbolizing solidarity, peace, and collective mourning. Participants walked in silence, holding candles to honour the lives lost and to reaffirm the values of peace and non- violence.” The statement said that similar meetings for expressing solidarity with the victims were held across all academic, research and extension campuses of the University.
