Srinagar, Jan 18: The Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has condemned the spread of misinformation regarding the rates of PET scans by certain individuals and clarified the actual charges.
The move comes in response to misleading claims by certain individuals alleging that the institute charges Rs 18,000 per PET scan, a claim strongly refuted by SKIMS.
Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Soura, Dr Farooq Ahmad Jan said that the institute offers PET scans at a standard rate of Rs 14,500 per patient.
“For economically disadvantaged patients, SKIMS provides PET scans at a reduced rate of Rs 10,000 and patients should not believe the false information being spread,” he said.
The Medical Superintendent stated that the discount is being offered to support the welfare of patients. He further clarified that for a second PET scan, all patients are charged a reduced fee of only Rs 10,000, ensuring affordability and accessibility for those in need.
Officials explained that the discount process at SKIMS involves a straightforward procedure where a simple application is submitted, forwarded by the Medical Superintendent, and subsequently approved by the Director SKIMS Soura.
The officials said that SKIMS is dedicated to providing advanced healthcare services with the latest diagnostic facilities at minimal charges. Notably, SKIMS is currently the only government hospital in Kashmir equipped with a PET scan machine.
