Srinagar, Jul 03: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Thursday carried out search operations at the residences of two suspects in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, as part of its ongoing investigation into the killing of a migrant labourer last year. The searches are related to the targeted killing of Raja Sah, a native of Bihar, who was shot dead by terrorists on April 17, 2024, while working at a private construction site in Bijbehara. The incident was one of several attacks on non-local workers in the Valley and had triggered widespread condemnation, reigniting concerns over the safety of migrant labourers in Kashmir.Officials said the searches aimed to uncover vital evidence to help unravel the broader conspiracy behind the attack and identify any accomplices or facilitators involved.“The searches yielded significant material evidence, which is expected to strengthen the ongoing investigation. These efforts are a vital step towards ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous terrorist act are brought to justice and the terror network responsible is dismantled,” an SIA spokesperson said.Authorities added that the operation is part of a broader effort to crack down on sleeper cells and support networks that enable such targeted killings.“Identifying and apprehending the co-conspirators and supporters of the accused is essential for a thorough and effective investigation,” the official added.
