Baramulla, Feb 06: The Uri-Baramulla road near NS Bridge in Uri was blocked on Monday for several hours due to shooting stones disrupting vehicular traffic movement in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The commuters plying on the road said that the road was covered with boulders, making it impassable for several hours.
According to the local administration, the road was cleared later on by Border Roads Organisation with the help of earthmoving equipment.
“No casualties or injuries were reported during the incident,” officials in Uri said.
The cause of the slides and boulders blocking the road was caused by recent snowfall in the area and incessant rains since Monday morning.
The Uri-Baramulla road is a major route connecting the town of Uri to the city of Baramulla and is heavily used by local residents and travelers.
The disruption caused by the slides and boulders was an inconvenience for many people and businesses in the area.
Meanwhile the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority on Monday said,”Avalanche with medium danger level is likely to occur above 2400 meters over Baramulla in next 24 hours. General Public is advised to Restrict movement to only carefully selected safer routes with extreme care. Evacuate from unprotected settlements near the avalanche path.”
