Jammu, Jan 31: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) has strongly criticised the recent decree allowing Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the sensitive region to seek special permission to question administrative matters concerning the security and home department during assembly sessions. The party labeled this decision as an ‘attack’ on the constitutional and democratic framework.
Addressing a press conference here, the party’s state chief Manish Sahni expressed concern over what he termed ongoing violations of the rights of local residents and elected representatives since the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir. “The long-awaited assembly elections, made possible after a Supreme Court decision and nearly a decade of delay, have yet to restore the full status of the state,” he said.
Sahni said that even after 100 days since the formation of the new government, promises concerning the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s full state status remain unfulfilled. He warned that the recent ‘Tughlaqi’ decree would diminish the accountability of the bureaucracy and increase arbitrary decision-making.
