Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Organises Awareness Programme as part of “LG’s NASHA MUKT ABHIYAN”

Jammu, October20: Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Jammu in collaboration with G.S Sports Club on Thursday organised an Awareness Programme on “NashaMukt Abhiyan” in its auditorium in which Sh. Sandeep Chaudhary (IPS), SSP Cyber Crime Jammu was the Chief Guest, Prof. Samridhi Arora, HOD Home Science Department University of Jammu was the Guest of honour whereas Sushant Gupta was the presiding guest. 
 
 
 
The motive of the programme was to create awareness among students against drug abuse and its symptoms. Around seven participants from the School delivered their lectures on the topic who were later appreciated with the certificates and medals by the guests. 
 
 
 
Atul Sudan President GS Sports Club threw light on the prevailing crisis of drug abuse and asked the students to contribute their bit to eradicate this menace from Jammu. He urged the students, teachers and parents to come forward and help the nation in its war against drug menace.
 
 
 
On the occasion Prof. Samridhi Arora   briefed the participants, students about the threats of drug abuse and encouraged them to stay away from drugs and related narcotics. She emphasized on adopting a healthy lifestyle, which shall ultimately lead to a much healthier society, at large. She said it’s the responsibility of all to accept those people who are on the wrong path, she said guide them properly, counsel them as they are in need of love, care and proper guidance. She appealed to parents too to be serious about the future of their children and play an active role in making their career bright.
 
 
 
Sh. Sandeep Chaudhary (IPS), SSP advised the students to channelize energy in sporting activities to make their future better. He defined Drug Addiction as a compulsive seeking behaviour which is difficult to control and it’s also a physical and psychological dependency towards the drug. He also highlighted that the journey of any addiction begins with the “use” and develops into “abuse” and very quickly graduates to becoming an addiction. He shared various reasons for people resorting to drugs viz peer pressure, relief from Stress, Increase energy, Recreational purpose and status in the society etc. He also explained how drugs affect our body, social life and family life.
 
 
 
Principal Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School Sh. Rameshwar Mengi, who also presided over the function, urged the students to stay away from drug abuse, work hard to pursue their aims and play an important role in nation building. Concluding the function, G.S Sports Club Chairman Advisory Committee Rumit Gupta thanked all the Guests for their commitment to serve in society and to stand united in the fight against this evil. Bunny Sadotra, Vice Member GS Sports Club was also present during the event.
