Srinagar, Aug 31: In view of the incessant rains and landslides in hilly areas, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Sunday announced an extension of the closure of both Government and private schools across the Jammu division till Monday, September 01.
Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, the Director of School Education Jammu said that the decision was made to ensure the safety of students and staff in wake of the ongoing adverse weather conditions. All government and private schools in Jammu Division will remain closed until September 01.
Pertinent to mention here, on August 30, 2025, at least 11 people, including five children, were killed in separate incidents of cloudburst and landslide triggered by heavy rains in Reasi and Ramban districts of Jammu division.
In the meantime, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has postponed the Bi-Annual 2025 examinations for the 10th and 11th grades, which was scheduled for September 01 in both JKUT and Ladakh UT.
A senior official from JKBOSE informed Rising Kashmir that due to the severe weather conditions and the aftermath of the floods that have significantly disrupted normal life and connectivity in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the examinations planned for September 01 for the 10th and 11th grades have been postponed in both union territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
“The new dates for the postponed examinations will be announced separately,” he said.
