The committee invited him for upcoming Sharda Celebrations to be held on September 23, 2023, at Sharda Temple, LOC Teetwal. It also apprised him of the condition of temples particularly in the valley and requested him to write to the PM for the reopening of the Sharda Peeth pilgrimage.
Dr Karan Singh was pessimistic about the renovation of Martand Temple as it was under ASI, but favoured a small group of 4-5 pilgrims to start cross-LoC religious and heritage tourism, the committee said in a statement.

He is the son of former Maharaja Hari Singh who acceded to India after partition. Dr Karan Singh lauded the efforts of the civil society initiative taken by the Save Sharda Committee.
