Pulwama, Nov 16: Residents of Satpukhran village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed to higher authorities to streamline the services at an Anganwadi Centre (AWC) in their area.
Satpukhran, a hilly village in the upper reaches of Pampore tehsil, has been facing issues regarding the functioning of one of its AWC.
Manzoor Ahmad, a local resident of Satpukhran, said that while the Anganwadi worker regularly attends her duties, children are not receiving nutritional meals consistently.
“Nutrition is served to the kids only occasionally,” he said, adding that the services have been disrupted because the helper engaged at the centre does not report to duty punctually.
This has significantly impacted the cooking services at the AWC.
Residents reported that they brought the matter to the concerned Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), but no corrective action has been taken so far.
“We again appeal to the authorities to address our grievance and ensure the proper functioning of the Anganwadi Centre so that our children do not suffer,” Manzoor said.
Nazir Ahmad, the Child Development Project Officer of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) Pampore, acknowledged that the issue had been brought to his attention.
“I will be visiting the centre on Monday to assess the situation,” he assured.
Residents hope for prompt action to resolve the issue and improve services at the centre.
