Srinagar, Mar 26: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has confirmed that salaries for employees working in various Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being distributed regularly.
In response to a question posed by MLA Daleep Singh Parihar during the Assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary said that the salaries for ITI employees are consistently disbursed.
Additionally, he noted that the payments for some individuals temporarily employed under the Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP) Scheme have not been issued due to the scheme’s closure.
“The Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP) was a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at upgrading selected ITIs or transforming them into ‘Centers of Excellence’ (COE) to cultivate a multi-skilled workforce of international standards in partnership with industry stakeholders. This project, which began in the financial year 2008-09, operated under a funding model of 75:25% and concluded in September 2018,” Choudhary explained.
He further mentioned that the Department is currently reviewing the sustainability of the scheme within the Union Territory. Once approved by the Competent Authority, the matter will be forwarded to the Finance Department for concurrence, which will also address the release of outstanding payments for staff engaged under the scheme.
