Rubia, bowlers power J&K to big win over Mizoram

Vadodara, Oct 26: Make-shift opening batter Rubia Syed and the bowling quartet of Sandhya Sayal, Chitra Singh Jamwal, Ananaya Sharma and Rudrakshi Chib, coupled with experienced bowling duo of Sarla Devi and Bismah Hassan powered Jammu and Kashmir to a big win by a margin of 110 runs over minnows Mizoram in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at Infopro Sports Club Ground Vadodara on Saturday.
Earlier, batting first, J&K sailed on a power-packed knock of 93 runs by Rubia Syed and scored a good total of 157 runs, losing 5 wickets in the process.
Rubia showed explosiveness, stellar grit and tenacity to notch up 93 runs off just 50 balls, studded with 7 fours and 6 sixes, while Bawandeep Kaur (24 off 27), Shivanti Gupta (17 off 14), Chitra Singh Jamwal (14 off 15) were the other contributors.
Zothan Sangi took 2 wickets for Mizoram, while Sandhya and Puipuii claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Mizoram scored 47/9 in the stipulated 20 overs, thus lost the match by 110 runs.
Zuali (10) was the only batter to touch double figure mark, while no other batter showed any application or grit.
Off-spinner Sandhya Sayal captured 3 wickets by conceding 7 runs in her 4 overs, while leg-spinner Ananaya Sharma took 2 wickets by giving away 11 runs in her 4 overs and medium pacer Chitra Singh Jamwal claimed 2 wickets by conceding 7 runs in her 4 overs. Another off-spinner Rudrakshi Chib also claimed one wicket.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Latika Kumari as the Head Coach, Mr Ravi Dogra as Manager, Ms Saima Rashid as Assistant Coach, Ms Parveen Aziz as Co-Manager, Mr Rohit Rana as Trainer, Ms Lovely Bansal as Physiotherapist and Mr Mujtaba Yousuf as Video Analyst.
Member-Administration JKCA, Brig Anil Gupta, Member Cricket Operations JKCA, Mr Mithun Manhas and Member Legal Affairs JKCA, Adv Sunil Sethi have congratulated the team for this performance.
