Srinagar, Jan 26: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) continued their unbeaten home streak in the I-League 2024-25, securing a decisive 2-0 victory against Dempo Sports Club Goa on Sunday at the TRC Ground in Srinagar.
The match was witnessed by over 6,000 enthusiastic fans, including District Development commissioner Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin, who graced the event as the chief guest. RKFC owner Arshad Shawl expressed gratitude to the District Commissioner and the local community for their unwavering support.
The game started with Dempo creating the first clear opportunity. In the 30th minute, Shaher Shaheen set up Seigoumang Doungle, whose thunderous left-footed strike from the edge of the box hit the crossbar, setting the tone for an evenly contested first half. Despite several attempts, RKFC struggled to penetrate Dempo’s solid defense before halftime.
The second half saw Real Kashmir ramping up their intensity, breaking the deadlock in the 52nd minute. A poor clearance by Dempo’s defense allowed Lalramsanga to unleash a spectacular left-footed strike from 25 yards out. The ball flew past Dempo goalkeeper Ashish Sibi, leaving him helpless and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Dempo responded with urgency, nearly leveling the score when Knerkitalang Buam’s long-range effort struck the crossbar, echoing their earlier frustration.
RKFC doubled their lead in the 58th minute with a well-coordinated play. Paulo Cezar delivered a pinpoint cross from the right flank, finding Senegalese striker Karim Samb, who headed the ball into the net.
Despite a golden opportunity to further extend their lead in the 66th minute, Karim Samb missed an open chance after intercepting a weak defensive pass, sending his shot wide of the goal.
The win elevated Real Kashmir to fifth place in the league standings with 16 points from 10 matches. RKFC is the only club from J&K participating in the I League.
