Srinagar, Oct 24: Shameema Firdous, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Habakadal Assembly Constituency, on Thursday chaired a meeting with district officers here to review the developmental profile of the constituency.
During the inaugural meeting, the MLA sought full cooperation from departments to strengthen public service delivery. She discussed various public welfare measures and requested details on ongoing activities and requirements, department-wise.
Earlier, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, S.A. Kataria, briefed the chair on completed and ongoing projects in the Habakadal AC.
The MLA reviewed various developmental issues related to road widening, electricity, water supply, ration distribution, health, sanitation, and other public concerns. To prevent traffic gridlocks on roads leading to and from Habakadal and alleviate public inconvenience, Firdous directed district authorities to initiate a road widening program, including the Habakadal-Babapora, Habakadal-Kanikadal, and Habakadal to Fatehkadal via Chinkral Mohalla roads.
She also called for the demarcation and cleansing of Brarinambal Lagoon. The MLA instructed KPDCL officers to ensure strict adherence to the power schedule to minimise consumer inconvenience. Officers from the Jal Shakti department were directed to ensure a smooth supply of potable drinking water.
For proper sanitation, the MLA urged SMC officers to maintain the cleanliness of roads, lanes, and bylanes, ensuring that garbage is routinely collected from households. She called for the repair of defunct street lights and the replacement of faulty ones to avoid inconvenience for the public during commutes.
The Chief Medical Officer was directed to commence work on upgrading the PHC Habakadal to better serve the locals, ensuring adequate staffing at the health institution.
