Bandipora, June 19: The Chief Commissioner of JK Scouts and Hindustan Scouts, Khwaja Farooq Renzushah, presided over the grand inauguration of the “Khelo JK India” mega cricket tournament organized by the prestigious NGO, Kindness for Humanity. The event, held at Sumbal Higher Secondary School stadium lawns, witnessed the distribution of awards and trophies.
Addressing the gathering, Renzushah emphasized the importance of the occasion and the revival of Sumbal’s environmental beauty. He highlighted the previous mismanagement that led to the tragic cutting of millions of green trees in Hajin and Sumbal, turning the region into a symbol of environmental disaster. Renzushah expressed his joy at witnessing the restoration of greenery and the emergence of a young, educated generation as valuable assets in sports, spirituality, and scouting for Kashmir and the entire country.
The “Khelo JK for India” program, under which this grand sports event was organized, showcased the talent of young girls from Bandipora who have become symbols of values and fortitude. Renzushah commended their remarkable achievements and the efforts of Kindness for Humanity in promoting sports and unity.
Notably, Renzushah also raised concerns about recent tragic events, including the Greece boat tragedy, which claimed the lives of numerous residents from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) who were forced to use illegal sea routes due to the deprivation of passports and other rights. He lamented the negligence of both the Pakistan and Greece governments, calling for local Kashmiri leaders to condemn such treatment and raise their voices for the rights of Kashmiris.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mushtaq Kani, the State Commissioner of JK Scouts and Hindustan Scouts, Muzafar Makhdoomi from the Makhdoomi dynasty associated with the Raina spiritual class of Tujar Sharief, Zulfikar Ali, the Chief of Kindness for Humanity, Jahangir Sahib, the DDC Chief of Sumbal, Ashraf Sahib, the Principal of Higher Secondary School, Raashid Sahib, a senior journalist and executive of Kindness for Unity, Hussain Sahib, an anchor, and the team players of the Below 19 Women’s Cricket Tournament.
During the ceremony, Renzushah was honored with an Award of Honour from Sumbal through Kindness for Humanity, while the winning team and other distinguished guests were also presented with awards by the Chief Commissioner of JK Scouts and Hindustan Scouts, Muzafar Makhdoomi Sahib, Jahangir, Chief of DDC Sumbal, and the Principal of Higher Secondary School.
The “Khelo JK India” mega cricket tournament not only showcased the sporting talent of the region but also served as a platform to promote unity, kindness, and humanity, urging action against negligence in tragic events affecting the Kashmiri community.
