SRINAGAR: In an effort to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) in primary and middle classes in government schools, the Joint Director of School Education Jammu has urged the Chief Educational Officers of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua to identify students in need of remedial classes
Subah Mehta, Joint Director of School Education Jammu told the Rising Kashmir that the students in primary and middle classes are experiencing gaps in foundational literacy and numeracy learning that require immediate attention. To address these gaps and improve learning outcomes for these students, it is recommended to plan remedial classes from 3rd to 8th grade in government schools across the three districts of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua.
“The teachers in the schools will identify students who require these remedial classes. Students requiring remedial classes can be clubbed irrespective of class as per their need,” She said.
The Joint Director said that study materials have already been prepared for the students. These materials will cover topics such as letter sounds, letter word formation, sentence creation, and reading and understanding stories in English Subjects.
“In Mathematics, students will be taught number systems and fundamental mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This will enable students to read and write all subjects effectively and enhance their understanding of concepts,” she said
Furthermore, proper assessment and evaluation will be conducted to monitor and track the progress of students in schools.
