In view of the holy month of Ramadan, an extensive market inspection was carried out today across KP Road, Khannabal and other key market places in Anantnag town.
The inspection drive was conducted with active participation from officials of the Food Safety Department, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), and the Municipal Council Anantnag.
During the inspection, the enforcement squad identified several violations, including the sale of expired food items. The violators were penalized on the spot, and the expired goods were immediately destroyed to prevent their sale. A total fine of ₹10,000 was imposed on offenders as per the relevant regulations.
Authorities have urged traders and shopkeepers to strictly adhere to food safety norms and maintain hygiene standards, ensuring the availability of safe and quality products for consumers, particularly during Ramadan.
The administration has also assured that such market inspections will continue to safeguard public health and uphold consumer rights.
