Jammu, Jan 26: In view of the rising cases of mysterious illness that has led to seventeen deaths in Badhal Village of Rajouri, the government has set up a war room at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu (GMC-J), officials said.
The officials revealed that the doctors and other staff deputed at the war room are keeping a round the clock watch with continued updates and information from the concerned authorities in Rajouri.
“We at the war room are in close touch with the authorities in Rajouri and Badhal village. We are getting information of all developments taking place in Badhal and its surroundings where deaths have taken place,” Dr Ashustosh Gupta, Principal GMC, Jammu told Rising Kashmir.
“We have been sharing all the information with the health experts from various health institutions of the country like PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS, to tackle the situation,” the Principal said.
He said that all the patients from Badhal Village are recovering well which is a good sign.
Pertinent to mention here, the government has cancelled leaves of all the doctors, paramedical staff and other concerned health officials across Rajouri terming the prevalent situation as disaster like.
So far, seventeen people have died mysteriously with the majority of the victims being children. The Inter-ministerial team appointed on the orders of union Home Minister, Amit Shah, also visited the village and camped for two days collecting samples to ascertain the cause of the deaths.
