Jammu, Sept 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday criticised the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, for promoting what he called a narrative filled with “canards and falsehoods”.
Addressing party workers, Chugh said, “While the BJP is committed to restoring the status of statehood to Jammu & Kashmir, it is absurd for Gandhi to focus on this issue given his lack of a vision for the region’s growth and development.”
He added, “Rahul Gandhi visits J&K like a tourist, disconnected from the grassroots problems of the people. He should first apologise for the mistakes made by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and acknowledge the Congress’s past alliances with the Pakistan ISI that contributed to turmoil in the region.”
The BJP leader condemned Rahul for allegedly aligning himself with the interests of Pakistan and the Abdullah family by advocating for statehood without addressing the pressing concerns of youth and women in J&K. “He comes here like a prince on holiday, delivering speeches crafted by the Abdullah family to appease their mentors in Pakistan,” he said.
Chugh said Gandhi’s party and the Abdullahs had turned the region into a “terrorist bastion” while the Modi government has ushered in a “new sunrise” for J&K, transforming it into the country’s “tourism capital”.
