Qazigund, Sept 26: A 21-year-old girl from Badragund, Qazigund, has successfully handwritten the Quran, a task she began in March this year.
She received warm congratulations from her teachers and family on Thursday.
Sabiya Hamid, daughter of Abdul Hamid Ahanger, a resident of Nussu Badragund, was honored by her seminary teachers, who travelled from Srinagar to celebrate her achievement at her home. Girls from the local community also joined the event to honour her work.
“It was in March when I decided to handwrite the Quran, with the intention of doing something positive and earning the reward of writing the holy book by hand. After six months of dedicated work, I completed it, and it is now fully in the form of a Quran,” she said.

Sabiya said that the handwritten Quran is in three volumes, with over 440 pages. She credited her family, especially her brother, for their kind support in helping her accomplish this task.
“I am very pleased to have written the Quran, and I thank Allah for giving me the strength to complete this work. I hope others are inspired to write the Quran—not just to write it, but also to read it, understand it, and approach the act of writing with good intentions so that it becomes an act of worship for us,” she added.
She further said that people should read their religious texts in order to live a blessed life in both this world and the hereafter.
