Jammu, Mar 10: The proposal for lifting two hundred cusecs of drinking water from Chenab River for its use in Jammu City has been abandoned due to non-availability of funds, the government said on Monday in response to a question by BJP MLA, Sham Lal Sharma.
A proposal for lifting 200 cusecs of drinking water was taken up with Asian Development Bank (ADB) of Rs 885 cr in the year 2013-14.
However, after ADB mission’s in June 2013, ADB advised JKERA to exclude this project, the government said in the House.
Subsequently, a revised estimate to the tune of Rs 1276 cr was prepared in August 2022, it said, adding that the same could not be taken up further because of non-availability of funding agency, the government further said.
