Jammu, Dec 25:  Several political activists from Kashmir on Sunday Joined Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
According to a party spokesperson, several prominent leaders from Jammu and Kashmir joined the party ranks in presence of the founder and National President, NCP Sharad Pawar in Delhi.
The political activists who joined the party include Ghulam Ahmed Nengroo, Ghulam MohIudin Reshi, Gulzar Ahmed Wagay, Tariq Ahmed Malik, Abdul Hamid Gagroo, Mohammad Ashraf Wagay and Aijaz Ahmad Khawaja.
The new members were accompanied by Rakesh Sapru, In-charge, J&K (UT).  “Sapru has been working towards expanding the NCP footprint in Jammu and Kashmir union territory with a special focus on youth, women and underprivileged,” official spokesperson said in the statement.
Welcoming the new members to NCP Pawar exhorted them to become the true representatives of people of Jammu and Kashmir by working towards the welfare of each and every member of the society. He promised the newcomers that the NCP leadership will give all possible support in this endeavor.
On the occasion the new members said that they left BJP because it had failed to move in any positive direction despite being in power in the centre and the union territory as well.
“These leaders also said that they were attracted by the ‘inclusive’ policies of the Nationalist Congress Party and its commitment to safeguarding regional identity and sanctity along with taking India forward”.
