Srinagar, Mar 25: Investigation agencies are working to determine the reasons behind the suicide of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Faqir Mohammad Khan, who allegedly committed suicide in his government quarter in Tulsi Bagh Srinagar last week. The cause of his suicide remains unclear, with authorities awaiting the post-mortem report to gain further insights, the party said.
BJP UT President Sat Sharma, along with BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul and other senior party leaders, visited Wooder Kangan to offer condolences to his grieving family.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the loss, calling it not just a personal tragedy for the family but also a significant setback for the BJP. “We have met the family of the late Faqir Mohammad Khan. This is a huge loss for the BJP as well. BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda personally called to express his condolences,” Sharma said.
The BJP leader said the party is pushing for a fast-track investigation, aligning with the family’s demand for a thorough and transparent probe into the circumstances surrounding Khan’s death. “Let the investigating agencies complete their report; until then, we cannot make any statements,” he added.
Before Sharma’s visit, several other political leaders including PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also visited Wooder Kangan to extend their condolences to Khan’s family.
