Srinagar, June 22: The birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Sahib, known as PrakashParv, was celebrated with religious fervor, enthusiasm, and gaiety throughout Kashmir. The main religious ceremony took place at the ChattiPadshahiGurdwara in the Rainawari area of Srinagar, attracting numerous devotees.
Balvinder Singh, a devotee, highlighted the importance of the day, stating that ShabadhKirtans and langars were held not only at ChattiPadshahi but also at various other gurdwaras across the Valley. Singh added that religious leaders delivered sermons on Guru Hargobindji’s teachings, which continue to inspire the Sikh community.
“The sixth Guru’s visit to several parts of the Valley holds great importance for us. Numerous gurdwaras have been established here to honor him,” said another devotee. They recalled Guru Hargobindji’s remarkable achievements, noting that he fought and won four wars against oppressive regimes and significantly contributed to the Sikh faith by continuing Guru Nanak’s mission from a young age.
Balbir Singh, another devotee, said that Guru Hargobind Sahib was skilled in many warfare techniques and fought against all forms of cruelty. He added that the 6th Sikh Guru visited Kashmir with Emperor Jahangir. He continued, saying that the Guru’s message is to connect with God and worship with all one’s heart. He added that Guru Hargobind Sahib prayed for the well-being and prosperity of all people and taught respect for everyone without bias.
Similar celebrations were held at Gurdwaras in Tral, Rangreth, Pattan, Awantipora, and Baramullawhich saw a significant turnout of devotees.
The devotees expressed their gratitude to the local administration for facilitating the celebrations. “The authorities have provided all the necessary facilities, ensuring a smooth and joyous observance of this special day,” one devotee remarked.
