Ganderbal, June 13: Panic gripped the Nunner area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday after a sudden breach in the power canal caused a flood-like situation, with water entering parts of the residential locality.
According to locals, the breach occurred unexpectedly, sending a strong flow of water gushing into low-lying areas. “It happened all of a sudden. The water level rose quickly and entered some homes and streets, creating panic among residents,” said a local eyewitness.
Though some areas witnessed waterlogging, no major damage or injuries were reported.
In response to the incident, teams from the civil administration and police quickly reached the site and launched rescue and relief operations to manage the situation and prevent further escalation.
Authorities have urged the public to stay calm and cooperate with ongoing efforts as assessment of the situation continues.
