Srinagar, Feb 04: Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav Sunday said that security forces are on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir region and has already prepared troops for any critical situations to dominate the area.
After flagging off the contingent of 20 Kashmiri students for educational-cum-motivational Bharat Darshan Tour to New Delhi at BSF Headquarters at Humhama, IG BSF Yadav said that coordinated efforts of the BSF and Army in securing vulnerable areas to preclude infiltration bids effectively. The primary objective is to thwart any imminent attempts at infiltration by anti-national elements, he said.
“This year there has been a decrease in snowfall precipitation and forces were already on high alert as there were intelligence inputs that infiltration chances may continue this year,” he said.
“IG BSF said that BSF along with the Army have dominated the area and these efforts will continue after the snowfall in the region. As it may be difficult for us after the snowfall but our troops are prepared so that they can dominate the area,” he said.
About the presence of terrorists in launch pads, the IG BSF said that there has been no decrease or increase in the presence of terrorists on launch pads from the other side. It may only vary from -20 to +20 but no major activity is there.
“As per the intelligence inputs, terrorists are always waiting for an opportunity to cross the Line of Control but we have strengthened the security grid along the borders. It will be very difficult for them to be successful,” he said.
IG BSF said although there are various challenges including temperature, wind speed and fear of avalanche on higher reaches due to snowfall. We have already prepared our troops for these situations and how they can dominate the area in such situations. We are ready for any situation, he added.
He said that BSF remains dedicated not only to safeguarding the borders but also to contributing to the holistic development of the region. In addition to its primary security role, he said BSF is actively engaged in community development initiatives.
Earlier a contingent of 20 Kashmiri students of different schools (Girls- 10, Boys-10) and one teacher from Kashmir Valley for educational-cum-motivational Bharat Darshan Tour to New Delhi by Air journey tomorrow. He flagged-off the contingent from Frontier Headquarter BSF, Humhama, Kashmir. BSF organized the warm send off for the young Kashmiri students.
During the seven-days tour, this group will visit all the major tourist attraction in and around New Delhi, like the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate, Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, Taj Mahal (Agra), Nehru Planetarium and Rail Museum etc. spreading the message of love and peace from the valley.
IG BSF said as part of its efforts to engage with border community and youth, BSF Kashmir has so far sent more than 1250 youth from remote areas of Kashmir Valley to various parts of the country through several Bharat Darshan Tours. During the tour, the groups are provided with free lodging, boarding, clothing and transportation, he added.
IG BSF Yadav said that in 2024, BSF will be organising 05 Bharat Darshan Tours in which total 92 students belonging to Kashmir Valley will participate. The aim of these tours is to acquaint the youths with various cultures, customs and ethos of our country, he said.
“These tours would help in motivating the youth to develop a broader perspective, improve their understanding and knowledge through observation and make them aware about the academic and professional opportunities available in other parts of the country,” he added.
