Srinagar, Aug 05: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said that political parties should avoid doing “drama” on the Article 370 return, which was abrogated by New Delhi on August 05, 2019.
Speaking on the sidelines of a public meeting in Srinagar’s Rajbagh, Bukhari said, “As of today, the abrogation of Article 370 has completed four years. We believe it was a black day as rights of J&K people were snatched in broad daylight.”
He said August 05 was a tragedy for the whole of J&K as 200-year-old State was downgraded to two Union Territories.
To a query, Bukhari said he doesn’t want to blame anyone. “We all should try to provide relief to our people and refrain from drama bazi over the return of Article 370. The political parties should avoid drama bazi on the return of Article 370. They are none to bring it back. It is Supreme Court which can return it,” he said.
Hitting out at the NC and PDP, he said, “Had they not made our identity suspicious, our position would have been different today. They (NC and PDP) attributed J&K with India during power and spoke indifferently while remaining out of power.”
He also said those who were willing to hold meetings today, did congregations as usual, however, some are creating drama about restrictions and house detentions.
The Apni Party chief reiterated that J&K’s destiny lies with India and added, “Pakistan cannot give us anything. We have to fight on our own to get snatched rights back instead of relying on some other country.”
