Leh, Dec 22: The Leh police Sunday rescued 12 bovine animals at Phyang TCP in Leh, officials said.
They said that the animals were being transported in two Bolero Campers bearing registration numbers JK 15A 3153 and JK 15B 1923 towards Srinagar.
The operation was conducted swiftly, led by Insp Rigzin Gurmath SHO Police Station Leh and FIR under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Leh. The accused involved in the transportation has been arrested, and further investigation is underway. The rescued bovine calves have been handed over to the Animal Husbandry Department for proper care and rehabilitation. Leh Police said that it remains committed to ensuring the welfare of animals and enforcing the law to prevent illegal activities in the district.
