Srinagar, July 19: The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday carried out raids at 10 locations across four districts of the Kashmir Valley as part of an ongoing terror-crime investigation, officials said.
The searches are linked to a case involving terrorist sleeper cells and a recruitment module allegedly run by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander Abdullah Ghazi from across the border, police sources added.
Raids were conducted at one site in Pulwama, six in Ganderbal, one in Srinagar, and two in Budgam district.
These operations follow coordinated searches by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir last week at locations in Jammu, Doda, and Handwara targeting terror financing networks.
The previous crackdown focused on unearthing a sophisticated conspiracy involving cross-border funding routed through cryptocurrency, allegedly used to finance terrorism and disrupt peace in the Union Territory.
The ongoing probe also aims to identify individuals inciting youth against the Union of India, which authorities say poses a direct threat to national security.
The case, registered at Police Station CI-SIA Kashmir, is being investigated under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) Sections 18, 38, 39, and Indian Penal Code Sections 120B, 121, and 121A.
Officials said the raids resulted in the seizure of incriminating materials, including electronic devices, expected to yield crucial leads to identify and arrest other co-conspirators.
Investigators believe the evidence recovered marks a significant breakthrough in exposing the clandestine financial and logistical networks sustaining terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
