Jammu, Oct 02: Raman Suri, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, on Monday highlighted the schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to uplift the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
As per a statement, Suri led an important meeting in Qasim Nagar, Ward No. 19 of Jammu East Assembly Constituency. The meeting was part of the ‘Basti Sampark Abhiyan’ campaign inaugurated by Party Chief J P Nadda in Delhi. The campaign aims to create a deeper engagement with communities in almost 75,000 slums, 7,500 hostels, and other bastis, to spread awareness about the government’s various schemes and highlight the list of beneficiaries.
Kuldeep Kandhari, General Secretary BJP District Jammu, Manav Mahajan Vice President BJP District Jammu, Sanjay Mahey Spokesperson District Jammu, Rajesh Nischal Vice President Jammu East Mandal, Chaman Angral Mandal President SC Morcha Jammu East, Swarn Singh BJP President Ward No. 19, Harvinder Singh Sonu Shakti Kendra Parmukh, and several local residents such as Pinku, Uttam, Deepak, Toshi Devi and others joined the meeting.
Suri, shedding light on the essence of the party’s vision during the meeting, emphasized the necessity for outreach. He cited the considerable proportions of beneficiaries under vital schemes such as Kisan Samman Nidhi, Jal Jeevan, and PM Aawas that belong to the SC and ST communities. He underscored the essential role of BJP workers as bridges, ensuring that these welfare schemes reach the most marginalized sections of society.
The BJP leader highlighted the benefits of significant SC Welfare Schemes such as Dr Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship, aimed at providing financial aid for higher education to deserving students. He also mentioned Scheduled Castes Development Corporation (SCDC), which encourages self-employment and skill development among SC communities. Additionally, the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes supports SC entrepreneurs with low-interest finance.
Suri, along with others, visited over 50 households, contacted over 100 people, including children, and distributed notebooks, pencils, and refreshments. While interacting with the citizens, Suri talked about the establishment of the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC), which supports income-generating activities. Community members acknowledged the positive transformation brought about by ST Welfare Schemes such as Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana, Tribal Sub Plan, and Eklavya Model Residential Schools, leading to an overall improvement in the quality of life for tribal communities.
He assured the attendees that if they encountered any challenges in availing themselves of the benefits of these schemes, they could directly contact him. He emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to transparency and the betterment of the SC and ST communities. Suri urged individuals from these communities to assert their rights confidently, knowing that BJP leaders and workers were ready to support them in uplifting every section of society.
Raman Suri talked about the core idea behind the BJP’s vision and their course of action regarding the government’s welfare schemes. He mentioned that around 30% of beneficiaries in Kisan Samman Nidhi, 32% in Jal Jeevan, and 34% in PM Aawas belonged to the SC and ST communities. He added that BJP workers need to act as bridges to ensure that all welfare schemes of the government can reach the most backward and downtrodden.
