Srinagar, Jan 20: The Public Grievance Redressal Programme (PGRP), spearheaded by the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, R R Swain, has emerged as a formidable force against criminals engaged in fraudulent activities. This includes those exploiting innocent individuals under the guise of job opportunities or other deceptive schemes.
As per details, victims of scams, including false job promises, find solace in this initiative, allowing them to bring grievances directly to the attention of the J&K Police Chief.
The proactive approach not only provides relief to victims but instills fear among perpetrators, prompting some to return ill-gotten gains even before cases reach the DGP’s office.
Highlighting the initiative’s impact, Farooq Ahmed ( name changed), a victim of a job scam revealed that when reminded of reporting to the DGP’s grievance program, the fraudster promptly refunded the money, realizing the severity of the situation.
Another victim, deceived with false promises of construction material, stated that filing a complaint through the DGP’s program not only led to the return of money but also legal consequences for the fraudster.
Fouzia, duped under the pretext of a lucrative job opportunity, shared that criminals were taken aback when she informed them about the DGP’s grievance program, leading to a swift refund, fearing legal repercussions.
“The police not only verified that the job promise is fake but also helped me in getting my money back,” she added.
Since the initiative’s inception, DGP R R Swain emphasizes its success in direct and swift responses to citizens’ complaints. He commits the J&K Police to enhancing its dedication to the safety and well-being of the people, demonstrating that vigilant public engagement can be a powerful deterrent against criminal activities.
