Baramulla, Jan 13:  A pedestrian died after he was hit by a speedy car on Singhpora road near Pathla Kanispora area of Baramullla on Friday evening.
A police official told Rising Kashmir that the accident took place on Kanispora-Singhpora road when the driver lost control of his car and skidded off the road due to the snowfall in the area.
“Before skidding off the road, the car hit the pedestrian, killing him on the spot. The car later on fell in a gorge,” the police official said.
Police identified the deceased as Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, 35 son of Assadullah Wani, a resident of Singhpora Kalan, Baramulla.
A local Mudassir Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that Mushtaq Ahmad Wani was serving in CRPF outside Kashmir for the last 15 years and was walking back to his home.
“The deceased came back home a month ago and was posted in Srinagar. He was heading towards home with his wife and few neighbors when a car hit him, killing him on the spot,” Mudassir said.
Police said that the driver of the car escaped from the spot of incident and a search has been launched to arrest the driver.
“A case has been lodged regarding this incident and further investigation initiated,” police said.
