Srinagar, Feb 27: People’s Democratic People District President Srinagar Abdul Qayoom Bhat on Tuesday stressed the need to unite against forces aiming to weaken democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a party statement, Bhat said, “BJP is resorting to pressure tactics through agencies like the Enforcement Directorate to silence the opposition’s voice and evade accountability for issues like employment, development, and other essential amenities.”
Addressing a meeting of party office bearers, constituency in charges and zone presidents at the party headquarters here, Abdul Qayoom said, “There is a rampant corruption and nepotism within the BJP. The party workers must prepare for the upcoming parliamentary elections and champion the party’s pro-people agenda at the grassroots level to ensure victory.”
He expressed gratitude to the party workers in Srinagar for their unwavering support during challenging times and urged them to redouble their efforts to strengthen the party further.
Senior leader Abdul Hameed Kosheen urged party leaders in Srinagar to accelerate efforts in forming local Halqa and Mohalla Committees to bolster the party’s presence in every corner of the area. He urged them to “strive towards ensuring party’s victory with full strength and enthusiasm in the upcoming parliamentary elections so that the voice of people reaches the highest echelon of democracy through our dedicated and honest representatives”.
Senior party leader Ali Mohammad Wani encouraged the workers not to lose hope amidst challenges and stressed the significance of continuing the struggle for dignified peace in line with the values and vision set forth by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Constituency Incharge Habakadal Arif Laiguroo expressed optimism and assured party leadership that the district of Srinagar would exert all efforts to strengthen the party and secure victory in the upcoming elections. He affirmed the commitment of party workers to work tirelessly and assured that local ward committees would be established within a week to provide a vibrant platform for the party cadre to make further strides at the grassroots level.
Others present at the occasion included Incharge Chanapora Mohd Iqbal Tramboo, Incharge Lal Chowk Zuhaib Yousuf Mir, District Vice President Mohd Shafi Kundangar, Ali Mohammad Baba, Bilal Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad Reshi, Shabir Ahmad Makhdoomi, Ab Qayoom Zone Presidents Waseem Ahmad Mir and others.
