Ganderbal, Mar 10: Patwaris in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district continued their pen-down strike for the 10th consecutive day to press the government for the fulfillment of their demands. The protestors raised slogans against the government for ignoring their genuine demands.
According to sources, the Patwaris were demanding a grade pay raise for Graduate Patwaris from 2400 to 2800, timely Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of Patwaris, a ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars to provide career progression for Patwaris, and enhancement of Patwaris’ allowances.
The Patwaris of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district joined the protest on the 10th consecutive day at the District Headquarters, and they urged the Government to resolve the issues of AJKPA UT J&K immediately, or they would continue their protest.
One of the protesting Patwaris, speaking over the phone, told Rising Kashmir, “I am hopeful that the government will fulfill the genuine demands of AJKPA at the earliest so that the public may not suffer any more.”
He added that Pathwar Circles, which were made 100 years ago, have not yet been upgraded. “We have time and again taken up our grievances and demands with the government. Despite assurances and promises, nothing has been done on the ground,” he said.
However, the indefinite pen-down strike called by the Patwar Association Association of J&K UT has left people in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district who need revenue documents and other land-related information disappointed.
Locals expressed their frustration, saying, “We came here for some work related to land revenue, but the office is closed.” They further stated that this pen-down strike is affecting the work of the general public, and the government needs to take quick action and resolve this issue.
Local residents also acknowledged the hard work of Patwaris and stated that they deserve better pay and working conditions.
