Srinagar, May 01: Apni Party on Thursday called on the authorities to ensure that no innocent individuals are harmed during the investigation into the tragic Pahalgam massacre. It further urged the government to reopen the tourist destinations that were recently shut following the attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
The party leaders urged the Government of India to revisit its decision on the deportation of PoK nationals, particularly women married to Kashmiri men.
According to a press release issued here, Apni Party leaders held an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee meeting which was attended by all the district presidents from across the valley.
The meeting, presided over by party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, was held to discuss the current political and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the wake of the recent horrific attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
During the meeting, the leaders thoroughly discussed the prevailing situation across the valley. They said the terrorists must be nabbed and brought to justice, but no innocent person must be harmed during the investigation of Pahalgam’s horrific terror attack.
The leaders demanded that the 48 tourist places the government recently closed down should be reopened with adequate security arrangements at these locations. “Tourism activities must continue despite the disturbing attempts by the terrorists and enemies of peace,” they said.
The Apni Party leaders appealed to the central government to revisit its decision to deport women from Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) who have married Kashmiri men. “These women are bonded with the valley’s social fabric through their marriages, and they have raised children here. They belong to this place, and deporting them would be a grave injustice,” they said.
The party urged the government to grant these women an exemption from the deportation of Pakistani nationals from Indian soil.
The prominent party leaders who were present in the meeting included Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Chairman of the party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Vice President Javaid Mustafa Mir, General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Chief Coordinator Abdul Majeed Padder, Chief Spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin and others.
