Srinagar, Aug 21: Choudhary Qamar Hussain, the former Member of the Legislative Assembly from Rajouri, has rejoined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the party headquarters in Srinagar. His return to the party was celebrated in the presence of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and other prominent party leaders.
Zaffar Ahmad Mir from Lasjan and two young socio-political leaders, Javid Iqbal Ganie from Palhalan Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district also became members of the PDP during the event.
Zaffar Ahmad Mir, speaking with Rising Kashmir, said he has been an active independent social activist since 2016, focusing on advocating for public issues. He said his father was a founding member of the PDP during the tenure of the late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
“By joining the PDP, I aim to work for the welfare of the people, which is my primary motivation for entering this political party,” Mir said. “My priorities are addressing issues in the agricultural and horticultural sectors, improving irrigation, creating job policies for unemployed youth, and securing proper employment policies for daily wage workers, casual laborers and other temporary employees in various government departments of Jammu and Kashmir, besides attracting investment to the region.”
Mir encouraged voters to support the PDP saying the party “consistently prioritises the interests of the people over other considerations”.
