Out of available Rs 1000 cr, only 430 cr utilised on Smart City projects

JAMMU, Apr 04: The Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) has utilized less than fifty percent of the funds out of the available one thousand crore, for executing different development works under the Smart City Project in Jammu in the financial year 2022-23.
As per the official figures revealed to Rising Kashmir, the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) has been able to utilise the funds amounting to Rs 430 crores in the financial year gone by till March 31st.
General Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Ashish Anand, said that entire funds available under the Smart City Project have not been utilised in the financial year gone by (2022-23) but fundshave not lapsed.
“Only Rs 430 cr have been utilised by the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) for executing different ongoing works under the Smart City Project,” the General Manager told Rising Kashmir, while adding, “The funds will not lapse and we can utilise them in the following financial year also i.e 2023-24”.
Presently, there are 72 different projects which are being executed and their work is going on in Jammu under the Smart City Project.
Meanwhile, the  officials  informed that for different works under the Smart City Project, both the State government and the central government provide equal funds  for five years.
 
The central and the State (J&K UT) both provided Rs 500 crore each to the JSCL for executing different projects in Jammu.
Same funds are allocated throughout India under the Smart City Project,” officials said. 
“We had Rs 1000 cr available with us under the Smart City Project,” JSCL General Manager, Ashish Anand informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “Entire available funds have not been utilised in the financial year gone by but they will be utilised in this year financial year i.e 2023-24”.  
 Officials further informed that the budget of government departments is for only one financial year only but the funds are allocated to the Smart City projects for 5 long years throughout the country.
The account balance of JSCL now shows Rs 570 crores which can be utilized in the following financial year i.e 2023-24.
