‘One-nation, one-health, one-world’ echoes at IAPSMCON-2025

1270 delegates, 560 papers, Srinagar conference sets new benchmarks in public health dialogue

Srinagar, Apr 13: One-nation, one-health, one world echoed at the 52nd annual national conference of Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine the IAPSMCON 2025, at SKICC Srinagar from 11th to 13th April 2025.
The theme of this year’s conference was integrative approaches for comprehensive care in one-health with slogan one-nation, one-health and one-world with six pre-conference workshops on 10th April at GMC Srinagar.
The three-day annual IAPSMCON 2025 was an academic extravaganza, through the optics of public health stalwarts of the national and international levels.
Dr. S. Muhammad Salim Khan, HOD Community Medicine GMC Srinagar and organizing chairman said the conference had many firsts to its credit.
“The conference hosted around 1270 delegates and 32 co-delegates from across the country from 32 states and UT as far as Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The conference had over 100 delegates from Maharashtra, Karnataka and UP Each,” he said.
There were academic discussions of par- excellence with plenary sessions on different utmost priority health problems of national and global importance through speakers of international reputed live connected for panel discussions and for other scientific deliberations.
“Number of absorbing research articles presented during the three days, which can be perceived by the number of presentations to the tune of 560 research paper presentations,” he said.
This conference provided the podium to researchers across the country and abroad to present 561 papers which include 13 IAPSM award papers, 437 oral papers comprising 332 physical oral, 105 physical posters, 111 posters including 83 virtual oral, 28 virtual poster presentations in six parallel halls. There were 11 plenary sessions and 11 talks.
Khan said that this conference was presented in dual mode, exclusively oral in five halls and virtual in one hall while occasionally hybrid in the main auditorium.
Pertinently, the NMC President, Prof. BN Gangadhar interacted and deliberated on various important health systems and medical education-related issues and discussed with eminent health professions one-on-one for the way forward
The conference was inaugurated on 11 April at SKICC by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary, H&ME Department in presence of national President Dr. Annarao Kulkarni and Dr. Purushottam Giri, Secretary General, IAPSM, Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah, principal GMC Srinagar, Dr. S. Muhammad Salim Khan, HOD Community Medicine GMC Srinagar and Organizing Chairman IAPSMCON 2025 and Dr. Inaamul Haq, Associate Professor & Organising Secretary IAPSMCON 2025.
Prof. Muneer Ahmad Masoodi, ex-HOD Community Medicine GMC Srinagar was awarded Life Time Achievement posthumously which was received by Zeenat Masoodi.
The valedictory function was conducted at SKICC, Srinagar with Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Executive Director AIIMS, Awantipora, chief guest; Dr. N Zaheer Ahmad, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, guest of honour; Prof. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal GMC Srinagar & Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Medical Specialties, University of Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Administrator, Associated Hospitals, GMC Srinagar, Prof. Purushottam Giri, outgoing Secretary General, IAPSM; Dr. Meenal Thakare, outgoing Joint Secretary, IAPSM and Dr. Inaamul Haq, Organizing Secretary, IAPSMCON 2025, on the dais.
