New Delhi, Aug 16: Hundreds of Gurgaon citizens participated in unfurling of national flag by noted Senior Supreme Court Lawyer and a distinguished fellow United Services of India, Ashok Bhan, Vice Chancellor Dr.Raj Nehru and an eminent media personality Ashok Ogra on the 78 Independence Day celebrations at a function organised by Ajay Pandita and Dr R Jalali of Kashmir Peace Lovers (KPL).
Speaking on the occasion Ashok Bhan said. “On the eve of India’s Independence, Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of Independent India, hailed this historic achievement as a ‘Tryst with Destiny’. On August 15, Pt. Nehru hoisted the Indian national flag above the Lahori Gate of Red Fort in Delhi. It is a tradition that every Prime Minister has since followed with an address to the country.”
Independence Day, he said reminds every citizen of the country about the dawn of a new beginning, the freedom struggle, the freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country, and the countless sacrifices they made to achieve liberation from the clutches of British. It is marked as a national pride in the country.
He said today India has achieved the success story in all fields of human development as a continuing struggle to achieve the economic targets the leadership has fixed and on international affairs India is bound to be named as a Vishwa Guru -for its unflinching struggle for World peace and progress.
Dr Raj Nehru said, “Every year, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag on Swatantrata Diwas and addresses the nation. The Independence Day speech reflects the nation’s progress, achievements, and future goals. This year’s speech will mark the 11th consecutive Independence Day speech by PM Modi and the first during his third term.”
