Jammu, May 11: President of the Durga Nag Trust Vijay Bakaya dismissed the claims that land in Durganag had been sold, making it clear that not a single marla of land had been sold at a meeting with executive members on Friday.
Former legislator and Trust president Vijay Bakaya refuted the claims and said that the current team of trustees was completely committed to the trust’s welfare and the preservation of its holdings for future generations. While disputing claims that he sold trust land to Tramboo’s for the construction of a hospital, Vijay Bakaya made it clear that the land in question was neither leased out nor sold to Shri Trith Ram Amia until 1983, when the management team led by Sham Lal Saraf his successor leases established M/S Equinox Real Estate Pvt Ltd. A new lease with a 20-year extension period was signed in 2010. Mohammed ShafiTramboo joined the firm in 2013–2014 after paying the appropriate fee to the trust. Shortly after he took over the company, Equinox Real Estate Pvt Ltd built a hospital on this land and handed control of the management to the chain of Paras hospitals..
Bakaya cautioned people against false hood being spread by some
vested interests, and asserted that the ownership of leased land vests
with the Durga Nag Trust and there has been no sale.
Bakaya said trust has taken various measures for safeguarding property of Durga Nag and that renovation of Holy DurgaNag Shrine was done under smart city project by the trust after approaching concerned authorities. He said Mathura Davi Hall was
constructed and arrears worth Rs 23 lacs for Electricity charges whichwas a liability were cleared by paying Rs 14 Lacs under amnesty scheme. Moreover over Rs one Lac arrears which was a liability atBarnai Community Hall, Jammu was also cleared by the trust.
He said the Barnai Community Hall, Jammu which was in
shambles was renovated and is among the best community
hall of Jammu. The 11 Marla’s of Land belonging to the hall was
restored and dispute over the same was settled. Besides CCTV
cameras were fitted at Srinagar Durga Nag and TV sets provided in all
