Srinagar, Aug 20: Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission employees on Sunday expressed resentment against the non-payment of their monthly salaries at regular intervals.
Chief Spokesperson, J&K NHM Employees Association, Abdul Rauf said nearly 11,000 employees working under the National Health Mission in different hospitals across the UT are working tirelessly without being credited salary on a regular basis.
“These frontline workers perform their legitimate duties that too without risk allowances. We urge the authorities to redress the grievances of salary on priority,” he said.
He said the employees have not yet received the salary for July and this year they have suffered more due to the delay in crediting their salary at regular intervals. “It has become a norm on the part of the government that they never release the salary to NHM employees on time despite the fact that we work 24 hours and contribute to all health services to general masses,” Rauf said, adding, “We have been deprived of our basic dues.”
The incumbent president of the NHM Association requested the Lieutenant Governor to take cognisance of the issue and initiate the process with regard to the job security of these employees.
The spokesperson said there is complete apathy on the part of the government and nothing is being done in this regard. “The authorities are forcing us to hit the streets. We may have to take harsh steps in time to come and this is the last reminder for the government,” he said.
“We provide healthcare not only in urban but also in rural and far-off hospitals. We have on several occasions raised our genuine demands and grievances before but the assurances have proved to be a hoax,” Rauf alleged.
