Kathua, Apr 14: In a significant boost to the Union Territory’s industrial landscape, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today virtually inaugurated the manufacturing unit of Superior Polymer India Private Limited at Kathua.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the Superior Group of Industries on their new venture and extended his best wishes for the initiative, which he described as a major milestone for the region’s industrial development.
“The commencement of this greenfield project marks a pivotal moment, promising to invigorate the local economy, generate employment, and catalyse the broader industrial growth of the region,” said LG Sinha. He emphasised that Jammu and Kashmir’s manufacturing ecosystem is steadily expanding, and projects such as this align with the vision of Aatmanirbhar J&K.
Reaffirming the UT administration’s commitment to industrial advancement, the Lieutenant Governor credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for driving transformative progress in the region.
“Progressive industrial policies and a series of strategic interventions in recent years have significantly strengthened investor confidence in Jammu and Kashmir. This has translated into increased private investment and a flourishing business environment,” he added.
Highlighting the government’s workforce readiness initiatives, the Lieutenant Governor said, “We have built a skilled and inclusive workforce by empowering marginalised communities. Our Handloom and Handicrafts sector has also seen a notable export surge, thanks to a supportive industrial ecosystem.”
The new unit, established with an investment of ₹75 crore, is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities, further fueling local development.
Prominent dignitaries present at the virtual inauguration included Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department; Dr Arun Kumar Manhas, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu; Pradeep Agrawal, Chairman, Superior Group of Industries; Vishal Agrawal, Vice Chairman; Ashish Sethi, CEO; and Dr Sunil Kumar Mishra, Chief Human Resource Officer.
Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, also attended the event through virtual mode, along with other senior officials and stakeholders from the Superior Group of Industries.
