Rajouri, March 04: DIG RP Range Dr. Haseeb Mughal, IPS, on Saturday stressed the need of understanding the ever-increasing ambit of the cyber world and cybercrimes.
“Police officers need to upgrade their knowledge and practical skills to investigate such crime,” he said during a seminar on “Cyber Security- Future Challenges and Capacity Building” at Dak Bungalow Poonch.
Dr. Haseeb briefed the gathering about the digital evidence and how to collect/preserve, analyze and utilize them for substantiating the offences during the investigation of the cases.
Continuing its drive to make people aware of cybercrime and to educate the investigating officers to address the ever-growing issue, Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Rajouri organised this seminar.
SSP Poonch Rohit Baksotra welcomed the audience and threw light on the various challenges and problems the investigating agencies face in the world of the internet and technology. The session was inaugurated by Dr. Haseeb Mughal, who highlighted the role of cyber awareness in the current scenario and urged the participants to understand the fundamentals of cyber technology in order to stay relevant in the present times.
The program was attended by more than a hundred participants including police officers of the district, PSIs, IOs from various Police Stations and Police Posts and IT students from Degree College Poonch.
During the seminar, various speakers deliberated on the topic. Speakers who spoke on the topics include Dr. Manmeet Singh, Assistant Professor from BGSBU Rajouri, Gurpreet Singh from J&K Bank Branch Bataduriyan Poonch Prof Wassem Ahmed of Degree College Mander and Parupkar Singh, JKPS, DySP DAR Rajouri. The sessions were very interactive and spellbinding.
Topics related to cyber threats, online frauds, banking fraud, identity theft, social media awareness, investigation of cybercrimes and uses of cyber technology in the investigation were discussed.
Later in the closing address, DIG RP Range thanked all the speakers for sharing valuable information on the subject. He requested the college students to act as ambassadors to this agenda by helping in spreading awareness amongst their fellow mates and families, and helping them in being less vulnerable and less susceptible to various cyber crimes. “J&K Police shall routinely conduct such conferences in the future to keep its investigating officers in tune with growing cyber crime challenges,” he said.
